I take the task of looking after your children very seriously, but at the same time make sure that they are having fun.

I treat all of my children I watch like they were my own. They will be protected with great care. I want you to be able to enjoy your time while I’m looking after your child(ren). I look forward to meeting all of the wonderful families!

During middle school and high school I worked for a family that started out with 2 children and over the 8 years with them it grew into 6 children. In the mix is a set of twins and one with autism. I was a full-time nanny for them during the summer and watched their children whenever they were looking for a sitter. Whenever the mom was in the hospital having a child the dad would stay with her and I would stay with the other children at the house and make sure they would get to and from school. I traveled with the family on vacations and became very close with the family that I was invited to all family events and got the privilege to be the godmother to one of the twins. I even was asked to attend camping trips for fun. During college I would go back home specifically to watch the children if the family needed someone all weekend.

One of my families I had to juggle 3 children’s activities in one day at about the same time. Between the 3 boys they would all have soccer practice and sometimes a football game. I would make sure that we had enough beverages and snacks with us if we weren’t going to be home for hours. These boys saw me from the moment they would wake up in the morning and I was the one putting them to bed as I worked 17 hour days. In our free time we would be playing games, playing outside with the neighbors, have friends over, take them to either their church or mine, and go to the zoo or the science center.

I have had the privilege of working with multiple families during the years with children with autism, cystic fibrosis, feeding tubes, and multiples. I love getting to help each child and seeing them grow into bright children. In the past I have been in charge of some big roles with my families. Some of my responsibilities were:

  • all aspects of infant, toddler, and school aged childcare
  • transporting to and from activities and school
  • coordinate playgroups/playdates and community-based activities
  • grocery shopping, meal planning, and complete meal preparation
  • doctor appointments, dentist appointments
  • helping with homework and school projects
  • plan education-based activities
  • dealt with different food allergies
  • light housecleaning
  • supervising chores
  • dry cleaning
  • pet care

Multitasking is a common thing for me, as I'm usually watching 2 or more children at one time that are on different schedules and need different things at different times. I have experience with all ages ranging from birth to adults. When I lived in Iowa I had a clientele list of over 30 children that I would watch on a regular basis. I was a “go to” sitter for many families and if I wasn’t available I had backup nannies that I would recommend. After I had my schedule figured out for a few months I would contact families one by one and let them know the days I still had available. They would then pick the dates they want and I would go on to asking another family if they wanted any of my available dates. I sometimes would get last minute calls to sit within minutes and if I was available, I would be right over. Being a nanny/babysitter doesn’t feel like a job for me because I love what I’m doing.

Comments : Amy was a pleasure to work with.

She is warm and friendly and easygoing.

She instantly hit it off with my 4 month old son (despite his stranger anxiety).

She sent me periodic updates on his day with great pictures.

She also did crafts with him. I definitely recommend her.

I’m an active nanny who enjoys being busy while working and in my free time. I have a love for children and like taking children on different adventures during my time with them. I like planning outings to the library, museums, zoos, aquariums, parks, music classes, dance classes, lunches out, and playgroups. I also like time at home doing crafts, reading books, puzzles, playing games, going on walks, and baking. I am a kind, caring, dependable, warm, friendly, responsible, organized, and educated nanny who is flexible to the needs of each family. Planning and making balanced meals for children and adding in plenty of physical activity during their time with me. (Regarding meal planning, I am quite versatile when it comes to dealing with food allergies- and to varying degrees within one household. Currently, I have to make sure things are gluten and dairy free for one member, dairy free for another, and no egg for yer another.)

Hello! My name is Amy, and I have been nannying and babysitting through middle school, high school, and college over the past 17 years! Over those 17 years I have been a nanny for 5 primary families, a babysitter to multiple families, worked in 3 daycares, taught preschool while in high school, and a pet sitter for families while out of town. Currently, I care for 13-month-old twins that I absolutely adore.  I attended college at AIB College of Business in Des Moines, IA and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 2008. Fall of 2014 I decided to make a big change in my life and move to the Boston area from Iowa.  I’m certified in CPR and First Aid, and a mandatory reporter as well.
